As a residential college, Marist provides
a variety of living situations. Freshmen
live in their own residence halls - an
arrangement that builds class spirit and
helps students meet people and develop
lasting friendships. Upper-class students
have a number of options, including
traditional residence halls, townhouses, a
garden-style apartment complex and a
mid-rise residence hall in the center of
campus, overlooking the Hudson River.

At Marist, faculty and staff are committed to
making the transition from home to college life as
smooth as possible. Mentors (adult residents) are
available around the clock in freshmen residences
to offer advice and to respond in emergencies.
Faculty advisors are there to customize a unique
program of study to suit you and your goals and
to help you plan your schedule. At Marist, we
consider changes in majors a natural part of the
process of getting to know yourself and your
strengths.

problems arise, you always have the
professional staff of the Counseling
Center to turn to. Career counseling
and information about off-campus
jobs, co-ops, and internships are
provided to Marist's active
Office of
Career Services.

Only 90 minutes from both New York City and Albany,
the College is close to all the excitement and culture
provided by these cities. Poughkeepsie is home to the
historic Bardavon Theater which presents Broadway
touring shows, opera, ballet and symphony concerts.
The Mid-Hudson Civic Center is host to major shows
and popular entertainers.
The nearby Catskill Mountains and other rural areas of
Dutchess and Ulster countries provide trails for hiking,
mountain biking, and cross-country skiing, as well as
some of the best mountain climbing in the east. Crew,
kayaking and water skiing are some of the activities
easily engaged in on the Hudson River.
